Expectations In order for students to get as much out of physical education class as possible, they need to have high time on task. The rules listed below help students achieve this. We call these our "Shark Rules".
Physical Education Rules 1. Safety 2. Hand raised 3. Attitude 4. Respect 5. Keep on task
Students earn a "shark fin" when they follow the rules.
Consequences When a student does not follow the rules, he or she gets a warning. If another rule is not followed, he or she has to sit in time-out and a note is written in the student's agenda. The student does not receive his/her "shark fin" for that class period.
Shark Reward Party We have a behavior incentive program for students during their resource periods. Each time students follow all of the rules in their resource classes (physical education, music and art) they will earn a shark fin. Students have an opportunity to earn up to 34 shark fins every nine weeks. If they earn at least 32 shark fins, they will attend the SHARK party which will be held during their resource period outside, at the end of each nine weeks. Those that do not earn 32 shark fins will do an alternate lesson in one of the resource rooms.
